Research

What is your ideal new family member like? Are they a high energy hiking buddy, or a couch potato snuggler? Are they cat-friendly or dog-friendly? Will it get along with your children? What is adopting a puppy like? What are the benefits of an older animal? What challenges should I expect? Check out our article on welcoming a new dog to your home, then see who is available here!

At the Vet

Prepare

Your new friend needs more than a new owner. Prepare to commit to their care for their lifetime, including food, shelter, exercise, regular vet appointments, and monthly flea, tick and heartworm preventatives. Not sure what to expect? Here's an article with cost expectations. Our staff will also answer any questions to set you and your new companion up for success!

Not quite ready for the financial commitment? Get your fix by fostering! CCAC provides food, supplies, and all medical needs for those in our foster program.

Dogs Running

Meet & Greet

If you are looking to adopt another dog, bring yours with you! We want to make sure your current animals are compatible with the dog or puppy you want to adopt. Meeting on neutral territory will make the selection and introduction process that much easier.

Cat Cuddles

Adoption Application

Fill out the adoption application, pay the adoption fee (cash or check only), and review the adoption counseling information with a staff member. Please bring a carrier and leash with you. Cardboard cat carriers are available for purchase for $5.

Vet, Name Tag & Microchip

Please take your new family member for an appointment with your vet within one week of adoption. We will provide records including vaccinations provided by CCAC, spay/neuter date, last date of flea/tick and heartworm preventative, and any other relevant information for your vet.  Put a name tag on her collar, and register your dog's microchip in your name on adoption day.
