Answers to our most common calls for assistance
CLICK HERE to report the animal you found with a description of the animal, where you found it, and your contact information. Providing detailed info helps ensure proper care, safety, and the best chance for reunification. After filling out the form, if you need further assistance, call the shelter at (615) 792-3647.
IF THE ANIMAL IS IN IMMEDIATE DANGER OR POSING A THREAT, IMMEDIATELY CALL THE SHELTER AT (615) 792-3647 (DURING OPEN HOURS) OR CHEATHAM COUNTY POLICE DISPATCH AT (615) 792-2098 IF AFTER HOURS.
Please follow the process above before bringing the animal to the shelter. We are a no-kill shelter, which means that we are not open intake, and may not have space immediately available. The animal will need to be scanned for a microchip at the shelter, or at any local veterinarian. The Nashville Humane Association has a self-service microchip scanner outside of their building for public use.
Be prepared to keep the animal for a few days until we have space available to take them in. We will support you with food, supplies, and by posting on our social media channels to try to locate the owner. After a mandatory stray hold of 3 (no identification) or 7 (with identification) days, the animal will be made available for adoption.
After hours: Click the link above to report the animal you found. If you need additional assistance, call (615) 792-3647 to leave a voicemail. Please keep the animal safe and contained until a staff member can return your call.
